Forest City Water Polo is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization. The club is registered under the Ontario Business Corporations Act and has adopted by-laws governing the affairs of the corporation. A copy of the by-laws is available on the website.
The Board of Directors manage, along with the head coach, the long-term strategy and day-to-day business of the club. A board member is elected to a 3-year term with approximately 3 positions available.
The club and its coaches make every effort to provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for our members. We have a number of policies and principles that we will enforce that are outlined in this section.
Parents and athletes should familiarize themselves with the information that follows.
Athletes
Athletes are to conduct themselves with integrity and respect. Respect for themselves and others (fellow athletes, coaches, parents, sport officials), as well as for the sport. Participating in unsportsmanship-like behaviour will not be tolerated.
These rules apply whether just at a practice in town, or in a tournament out of town. All athletes are representing the club and the sport, and are reminded to approach the sport with a team first mentality.
As such swearing, bullying, smoking / vaping and drinking are not acceptable.
Parents
We appreciate your support and your enthusiasm, as do the athletes. We request however that you refrain from coaching from the sidelines. Parents are reminded when cheering on the team that they keep our core values in mind as you support our athletes. Regardless of how others behave, please keep your support positive and polite.
Should something arise in a practice or game - athletes and parents are asked to connect with the coach at an appropriate time. Coaches may be able to field the question right after practice - or set up a time to discuss a question or concern at a later time. Timely communication is key!
